Muldoon Residents Celebrate the Holidays
The Chlumskys, Kathy and Frank finally got to have Christmas with their family; just this year was totally different. This year they did it in three parts instead of one big gathering. Kathy’s daughter Summer and husband Ben came in for a weekend visit with the kids, Olivia and Marcus. They enjoyed opening their gifts and we got to spend some quality time with them. A few days later Kathy’s other daughter Jennifer and her husband Kenny arrived to spend the day along with grandsons Conner and Hunter. The boys enjoyed playing outside and Kathy had to coax them back in the house with promises of opening gifts after lunch. On Christmas Day Frank and Kathy enjoyed a quiet day at home.
During the month of December the Chlumsky house celebrated a few birthdays. Frank was able to celebrate his with a great meal at Robert’s Steak House with Kathy, but they had to settle for some long distance celebrating with Frank’s son Reece in Idaho and Kathy’s mom Nelda Lamb in Lake Charles and their son in law Ben in Austin. Even though things had to be different this year they still managed to have a good time and are looking forward to a time when they can all get together and have a real in person celebration.
Pam Sheffield spent the Christmas and New Year’s holidays in the Houston area with her two daughters’ families, as well as her sister’s family. Christmas Eve brunch was held at Allison and Dawson Williford’s house, Pam’s younger daughter and son in law who live in the Cypress area. The other family members in attendance were Sarah, Grey, Haylee and Benjamin Holland; Michele, Richard, Josh and Lindsey Vogt and her fiancé Hunter Driskell. There was a variety of foods and desserts which everyone enjoyed. They had a blast playing the “White Elephant” gift exchange and there was stealing of and laughing all around. Then they played a version of charades called “Salad Bowl” and they formed teams of boys verses girls. Naturally the girls won. That evening Pam attended church services with Allison and Dawson. She then spent the night with Sarah and her family in Spring and got to watch the kids open their presents on Christmas morning. What a fun day it was with new roller blades. The kids all had lots of fun learning to skate. The two families got together again on New Year’s Day with a meal of lasagna and more games of “Salad Bowl” and lots of special family time.
Devon Boehnke, Dana and Darrell Kulak enjoyed family in over the weekend. Jeremy Wells brought his kids Dylan and Brianna for a day in the country. They were joined by Dana and Darrell’s daughter Cynthia Kulak. They all had fun running around the place and going fishing.
Ron and Pam Knotts were determined to end 2020 in a positive way, so they hit the road just before Christmas to see friends and do some camping. First stop was Tyler State Park where the temperature was sixteen degrees. Conway, Arkansas was the next stop for a socially distanced gift exchange with granddaughter Keylee Simpson. Then they traveled on to Knoxville, Tennessee to visit Ron’s college roommate, Fred Wettling. The highlight of the trip was two Gospel concerts celebrating “Greater Visions” 30th anniversary. Ron and Pam have been following this group for many years and the first evening was three hours of old and new favorites. The second concert showcased several other groups and was an old fashioned hymn song full of old Gospel greats. It was a great way to sign off the old year and welcome in the new.
Lending Library
Be sure and go by and check out the Little Lending Library. It is a great local resource. There are always new books coming and going. Borrow a book or leave one. The Little Lending Library is located in front of the fire station across the tracks from the Stone Store.
Rain
Muldoon received some rain on Wednesday. It was a nice little shower. Maybe not the two or three inches we could use, but every drop counts. Some spots did receive better rainfall than others with some areas just getting a tenth of an inch and others more.
