Muldoon Celebrates Without Fourth of July Parade
Muldoon was a whole lot quieter this past Fourth of July with the cancellation of the celebration in the Park. Even with the cancellation of formal celebrations, private ones could be heard all through the community. It was wonderful to see so many still celebrating the birth of our nation. There were lots of fireworks going off starting around dusk and going into the evening. It was great to see some form of normal going on in this time of strangeness.
Out and About
Antoinette and Chris Joplin enjoyed a visit from one of Antoinette’s former students, Nadia McCauley, and her parents, Natalie and Kris. They came out to enjoy the country and say goodbye to a wonderful school year with their favorite teacher.
Ron and Pam Knotts recently took a day trip to San Antonio to help their niece, Julia Langenberg, and her husband, Tyler Keyes, move some furniture. Extra muscle was provided by Pam’s brother, Ray Langenberg. Social distancing and face masks did not stop the mini family reunion. Before leaving town, Ron and Pam decided to try a restaurant on the north side of town called Salsalito’s that had been recommended to them. The food was great and they are planning to put it on the list for future visits.
Pam Sheffield was in Spring recently, keeping her grandson Benjamin Holland while his parents, Grey and Sarah Holland, were in Dallas for a week. Grey, Pam’s son-in-law, donated part of his liver to his older brother, William Holland, and the surgery was successfully done in a Dallas hospital. This was an amazing transplant surgery between the two brothers. Grey is back home in Spring, recuperating very well. William is still in the hospital, having needed extra surgeries to correct some things. While Pam was with Benjamin, they played lots of Uno card games, built structures with Legos and were able to FaceTime with his mom and dad every day. Ben’s sister, Hayley, was spending time with her other grandparents and came home the day before their parents. It was a great reunion when the little family finally got back together. Devon Boehnke and Dana
Devon Boehnke and Dana and Darrell Kulak hosted some family members over the Fourth of July weekend. Dana and Darrell’s daughter, Cynthia Kulak, dropped by for a short visit before heading on out. Then Dana and Darrell’s son, Elton, and his girlfriend, Miko, drove in from Houston for a few days of country peace and quiet. Also joining in the visiting was Devon’s granddaughter, Ruth Field, and her boyfriend, Dan, from Lubbock.
Neighborhood Watch
Be a good neighbor and keep your eyes open for any odd or out of place activity. Let your neighbor know if you see something going on that seems “not right” by giving them a call. We all have to watch out for each other.
It might be a good idea to call and check on your elderly neighbors with the virus being active in the woods. They might need some help picking up groceries or supplies from town, too. Wear your mask and drop those supplies off on the porch. We have to all pull together during these strange times.
Burn Ban
The county has once again placed a bun ban in place due to all the dry and very hot conditions. Be cautious when out and about using equipment. It only takes a small spark to set off a big fire.
