Mud-Slinging Doesn’t Solve Problems

To the Editor:

I love reading the Friday edition of the Fayette County Record with regard to the Letters to the Editor. There seems to be no end to the rhetoric from individuals who have no basic science education and just seem to spew endless derogatory remarks. Case in point was the attack on Joe Weber’s thoughts on following the Governor’s guidelines.

Every individual in this country has the right to believe what is right and wrong and just having the title “Judge” before their name in no way infringes on his/her rights. He may have questioned the mandates, but has gone along with them just like the infamous Pickett’s Charge at Gettysburg. They didn’t like the order, but followed through with the order.

We can all be certain of one thing and that is the virus is loose in the environment and can be deadly in some instances. In my opinion, flu is identical to COVID-19, but has taken second seat to the news on the new virus.

As with your beliefs, it is up to you and you alone how you feel about others not following order because you have the responsibility for your safety. Most people spend most of the day at home and have the right to do whatever they like. As soon as I get out of stores I remove my mask as is my right as long as it doesn’t infringe on someone else’s right.

Quit telling other people how they should act or think and maybe we will find a solution to this virus, but no amount of mud-slinging ever solved one problem.
