Movie Choice Not Appropriate for All

To the Editor:

Let me first express my gratitude for all this community does for young families. There are many free and fun events throughout the year that we enjoy!

Now as a Christian parent, I’d be remiss if I didn’t voice my concern over the movies being shown on the square. “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” is an animated film rated PG and presumably a good choice for families to watch. However, I was appalled to see the content and the language contained therein. Lines such as “It took a lot of murdering to get this map!” were proudly expressed. Threats, violence, and name-calling were scattered throughout the movie including “shut-up,” “idiot” among others.

There were even intentionally bleeped words implying additional foul language.

Perhaps in the future we can watch old classic movies or something from Pureflix. Let’s strive to offer more wholesome entertainment for families.
