Misinformation About Voting Bill

To the Editor:

I’m tired of the deceptiveness. For a week, I have read headlines and articles that report falsely, “The Texas Senate has cleared the way for new, sweeping restrictions to voting in Texas.” What absurdity.

Several media-sourced narratives are completely at odds with reality as are those who equate election integrity with restrictions to the voting process.

Reports claim Democrats in the Texas legislature believe the illegal voting practices that took place in the Nov. 2020 election should be made legal. A close look at the events leading up to and including Election Day 2020 show that election officials in Harris County, as well as others, broke several state laws to promote their agenda with a narrative “it’s for your safety.” A wrong thing done in a wrong way is wrong!

There is no “crusade to further restrict voting” by Republicans. There is a crusade by the Democrats to insist that what was evident, witnessed, and testified via affidavits of illegal activity in the Nov. 2020 elections was not “widespread fraud.” Tragically they are deceiving themselves.

The main objection to SB 7 is that all voters are treated the same. There are no “identity” preferences; the bill, SB 7, does not “target” any specific group.
