Military Precision

To the Editor:

Well, I got my Moderna vaccine shot Tuesday in Brenham. We crested the rise just west of the fairgrounds and our eyes were met with a scene resembling the expanse of the buffalo herds in 1840 except this time it was cars, pickups and SUVs. As we got closer there was somebody to direct us into the massive queue. Actually, the whole process resembled a huge flow chart with an actual person directing us at each junction. As we checked in, our windshields were marked with what looked like bingo markers with different colors signifying different stages in the process. I thought to myself how clever and how smoothly things are going.

Finally we cleared all the checkpoints and were directed into a zig-zag line like those found in Disneyland except it was all motor vehicles. The line actually proceeded quickly except for some very long pickups that had a hard time with the hairpin turns. When we got to the covered area where the actual shots were given, I looked up only to see Fayette County’s very own Craig Moreau. That put a smile on my face.

The bottom line to this rambling is to take heart and know that our local folks have a handle on these mass COVID inoculations and it’s going to get better. The whole process was reminiscent of the way the military does it except we weren’t standing around in our whitey tighties. My hat is definitely off to everyone at the Brenham hub and I am sincerely grateful for all your innovation and plain hard work.
