Message Blurred by Some Tactics

To the Editor:

We see so much in the news about the violence taking America by storm from the Black Lives Matter movement. Nightly images of burning businesses, cars overturned and torched, the pushing and shoving all while trying to get the point across that the police departments harbor villains. In every walk of life there are those who are out of touch with reality and they should not be police officers. There are however, a great number of individuals who perform as police officers with great responsibility and tact.

Raising our voices all while burning buildings only causes anger towards their cause because the message is lost in the violence.

Mahatma Gandhi did not burn businesses and have the masses follow him on a crusade of violence to gain independence from Great Britain.

His method is a far cry from what we are seeing today in our streets. No one listens to the message if all that is done is looting and burning. In the end nothing will change except there will be a smoldering of hostility only to be reignited in the future.
