Love Those Old Songs

To the Editor:

I read Andy Behlen’s piece about the Hog Song and The John Deere Polka in last Friday’s paper. I love the songs because they remind me of my childhood and now where I live.

I grew up in a small town outside of Corpus Christi. I joined the Army during the Vietnam War and when I came home I could not find a job so I moved to Houston. I spent almost 40 years there. I met and married my wonderful wife 38 years ago. We happily decided five years ago to move to La Grange and I have loved that decision ever since. One of the first things my wife and I did was buy a burial plot in Hostyn. We plan to live the rest of our lives here and be buried here.

I wish Dan would not play the above mentioned song 300 times a year. I wish he would play them 600 times a year because they make me smile and laugh. La Grange: Visit it, Live it, Love it.
