Local Experiences Getting COVID Vaccine

In light of all the negative commentary on the COVID vaccine, I am happy to report that I received my first vaccine on Tuesday with no problems.

From the moment I registered online, to receiving a confirmation phone call, to arriving at the vaccination hub - the process was run like a well-oiled machine.

The place was packed when I arrived at 3:15 p.m. and by 4:07 p.m. (the time they wrote on my “release” sticker placed on my car) I was heading back home. I was pleasantly surprised it went that quickly. With the number of cars that were lined up when I arrived, I was expecting a 1-2 hour wait before I received my vaccine.

Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Getting 4,000 people vaccinated in about an eight hour window is no small feat. There were members of the Washington County Citizens on Patrol helping with the traffic. Multiple other organizations were helping out with checking off the individuals as they arrived at the facility. I even got to see Jenifer Boening, one of our Fayette County Texas AgriLife Extension Service employees, helping with the registration process. When you are in that line, it begins to feel a bit like a cattle chute, so seeing a familiar face was good for the soul.
