I had a wonderful dream about food recently surprising myself. I’ve never considered myself a foodie, so I was shocked I kept seeing dishes I like.

Here are my memories of culinary treats served at my dreamy banquet.

The hot sting on my tongue of the morning cup of tea, sweetened a bit too much, doctored with creamy half and half.

A fresh banana, not green, and no brown bruises on its exterior. Soft, rich. Perfect.

Thick white gravy oozing over the sides of a hot biscuit, dripping onto over easy eggs and crisp bacon, a couple of slices of cantaloupe chased with another sip of the favored tea.

Crunchy peanut butter smeared on fresh bread coated with apricot jam, mixing textures, colors, and a salty tang with the moist slice of baked dough .

Rich chocolate cake and even richer creamy chocolate icing made from scratch, no boxed mixes. Even better with pecans.

Angel hair pasta seasoned with garlic, roasted tomatoes, olive oil, salt and a bit more garlic. Fresh vegetables were mixed in, but I skipped those.

A bowl of mixed olives, some pitted and stuffed with onions, garlic and pimento.

Fresh strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, mango, papaya, another of those perfect bananas, and green grapes smothered in velvety yogurt.

Crab cakes, with who knows what included, teasing my taste buds.

A Waldorf salad, of course with grapes and walnuts.

Throughout this fantasy meal I was served Brennan’s famous milk punch.

There were more specialty items, but these are just the ones I remember.

Makes me want to binge eat each of these taste bud thrillers.
