Liberty and Science
To the Editor:
Mandates do not allow free speech or liberty.
In his recent letter, Mr. Mikus is either ignoring data concerning early treatment of COVID-19 or prefers to remain ignorant of such data. Most children who become infected with the COVID-19 virus have only a mild illness and develop natural immunity.
To refuse to mandate masks is to allow individual liberty. “Randomized controlled trials—which are the ‘gold standard’ for clinical research—have repeatedly measured the effects of masks on preventing the spread of contagious respiratory diseases. These trials have found inconsistent benefits from N95 masks in the healthcare settings and no statistically significant benefits from any type of mask in community setting.”
By burdening children with the ‘needless and reckless endangerment’ of rebreathing the CO2 they exhale rather than fresh air, I think we are creating a generation of sick kids.
Opinions are not science.
Dr. Martin Kulldorff, a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, has stated “Children should not wear face masks” because “they don’t need it for their own protection and they don’t need it for protecting other people either.”
I want children to be protected. I’m grateful to live in a country where I have the opportunity to research and share positive treatment information. I have learned from reading various professional and medical sources, masks for children do more harm to the child than good. The cost of monoclonal antibodies, Ivermectin, or a “highly targeted sequential multidrug” therapy initiated at the onset of symptoms is significantly less expensive than hospitalization.
