Law and Order

To the Editor:

I take offense to Patty Reid accusing Trump’s party, the Republican Party, of being a “law and order sham.” The National Organization of Police Officers representing 241,000 officers nationwide has endorsed President Trump. The Fraternal Order of Police also endorsed President Trump. That organization has 355,000 members.

The International Union of Police Associations, which is the only chartered labor union representing law enforcement, with membership of over 100,000, has also endorsed President Trump. Also, several of our largest city’s police unions such as New York and Chicago have endorsed President Trump. If Trump and the Republican Party’s “law and order” stance was a “sham” as you call it, I doubt that all of these police organizations would publicly endorse him for President for four more years.

You might wonder why they don’t endorse Biden.

Even Kamala Harris raised funds to bail some of these law breakers out of jail. What kind of signal does that send the law enforcement of this country?

As for the speakers at the Republican National Convention, many of them were ordinary people, not politicians and I found the sincerity in their words uplifting.

In this election cycle polls are showing that more African Americans will vote Republican than in recent history. Trump has never encouraged white supremacist, but instead has condemned all forms of racism or otherwise he would not have so many vocal black supporters during the RNC and on social media. One of the speakers at the Republican National Conventions was a black Democrat state congressman from Georgia. Do you think that he would support a racist President or the great football star Herschel Walker, who is very pro Trump?

The Affordable Care Act, which is not really affordable as I have read, is still in place with the pre-existing condition still in effect so why bring this up? Trump and the Republican Party have said publicly that they support this aspect.

The COVID pandemic has been a learning experience for everybody. Trump barred non-US citizens from travel from China against medical professionals’ advice that it was not necessary and then Joe Biden claimed he was xenophobic. Later he banned non-US citizens from entering the US from Europe. Nancy Pelosi even went to the Chinatown area of San Francisco and touted that there was no reason to stop travel from China to non-US citizens and people who weren’t permanent residents. These actions bought us precious time to prepare as best as we could for the COVID pandemic.

I could go on and on about Trump’s promises that he made and has kept such as the greatest economy in our history, lowest unemployment rates among Black and Hispanics in history, re-negotiating trade deals that had the US at a disadvantage, rebuilding our military to name a few. Many citizens do not understand the current issues the US is facing today. In my opinion a voter that has knowledge of the myriad of issues facing this nation really has only one choice for President in 2020 and that is Donald Trump.
