La Grange Police Investigating Check Fraud
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 9-16.
Fraud
On Aug. 14, Meinardus responded to the 700 block of FM 609 in regard to a checkbook stolen from her vehicle while in the body shop and two fraudulent checks were written out on the checkbook. Officer completed the incident report.
Assault by Threat
On Aug. 9, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr met with a caller in the 500 block of E. Guadalupe to receive information about a threatening phone call.
Agency Assist
On Aug. 15, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 1600 block of N. Jefferson in regard to assisting the jail staff with an inmate that was possibly combative. Officer upon arrival found the inmate was cooperative.
Accident
On Aug. 12, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to a collision in front of HEB at the intersection of E. Travis and S. Monroe Street. The at fault driver was cited for failure to yield right of way.
Animal Complaint
On Aug. 12, Animal Control Officer Dean Ahlschlager checked on a bull in the 1000 block of Eblin and the bull did have water and food.
On Aug. 14, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 800 block of N. Horton for a brown horse that was loose and running down the street. Officer located the owner and stayed with the horse until the owner arrived on location and took the horse back home.
Civil Matter
On Aug. 11, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 700 block of E. Milam in regard to a civil matter.
On Aug. 11, Patrolman Brian Adams responded to the 800 block of N. Eckel where complainant advised that a female subject would not leave the residence when asked to. Complainant is the tenant at the residence. Officer spoke with the owner of the residence that also resides there and who stated the female could stay for the remainder of the day until another place was found.
On Aug. 11, Wostarek was dispatched to the 800 block of N. Eckel in regard to a civil matter.
Citizen Assist
On Aug. 10, Meinardus responded to the 300 block of N. Jefferson where caller stated that two subjects entered the restaurant without wearing a mask. The subjects were leaving when officer arrived. Officer spoke to one of the subjects and advised him that the restaurant required him to wear a mask inside the establishment.
On Aug. 9, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of a suspicious package at the City Cemetery. It was determined it was a lost pizza order by a delivery person and took the pizza back to the business.
On Aug. 15, Meinardus responded to the 1900 block of State Highway 71 Business where caller believed that her vehicle had been burglarized in the parking lot. The complainant then realized that she was at the wrong vehicle so officer gathered information and cleared the call.
Curfew Violation
On Aug. 16, Wostarek observed several subjects in the 100 block of S. Brown that were in violation of the city curfew.
Disorderly Conduct
On Aug. 11, Adams was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place where complainant advised of subject causing disruption in the emergency room. Subject was brought in by an out of county ambulance. The subject made no threatening statements or gestures in officer’s presence. Physician on duty advised he would clear and discharge subject as soon as possible.
Family Violence
On Aug. 12, Sgt. Travis Anderson received a call in regard to a disturbance in the 100 block of Northwest Circle. The call turned into an assault in progress while officers were in route.
Suspicious Person/ Vehicle
On Aug. 9, Zwahr responded to the 1800 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a subject possibly drinking alcohol on the premises and subject was gone upon officers arrival.
On Aug. 12, Zwahr responded to a call in regard to a suspicious black truck driving through the neighborhood multiple times in the 500 block of W. Lower Line. Officer was unable to locate any vehicle matching that description.
On Aug. 21, Maxwell was dispatched to the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a suspicious male walking around in the parking lot. Officer made contact with subject and was transported back to his motel room.
On Aug. 13, Zwahr responded to the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business where caller advised that the gate was open and a dark vehicle was near the service bay. Officer arrived and gate was closed and no vehicle was found out of place, after checking it was believed to have been a delivery driver.
On Aug. 14, Meinardus spoke with caller that advised a subject was riding a bike on the side of the road and acting strangely in the 1900 block of Highway 159. Officer searched the area and could not locate anyone.
On Aug. 14, Maxwell was dispatched to the 200 block of E. Travis in regard to people loitering on the premises. Officer made contact with the subjects and advised them that the owner doesn’t want people loitering on the premises. The subjects agreed and left.
On Aug. 15, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1500 block of N. Jefferson in regard to two suspicious subjects walking around the parking lot. Officer arrived on location and the two subjects had left prior to his arrival.
Theft
On Aug. 12, Mohr received a call of theft from a business in the 1300 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer took information upon arrival.
On Aug. 13, Haman received information on an incident that occurred in the 1100 block of E. Camp Street.
Terroristic Threat
Aug 11, Meinardus responded to the 500 block of E. Guadalupe where caller stated that his life was threatened by an individual renting a home from him when the caller told him that he would like for him to move out of the home at the end of the month.
Verbal Dispute
On Aug. 9, Mohr responded to the 600 block of N. Washington for a verbal dispute and upon arrival officer separated parties.
On Aug. 9, Patrolman Robin Emmons responded to the 100 block of S. Reynolds for a verbal dispute between sisters.
On Aug. 11, Maxwell was dispatched to the 500 block of E. Guadalupe in regard to a dispute.
On Aug. 12, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to a disturbance in the 1000 block of N. Madison. Tenant was upset because he received notice of eviction from apartment manager.
Welfare Check
On Aug. 9, Haman responded to Highway 71 Bypass westbound at the Highway 77 exit for a welfare check on a stranded motorist. The motorist advised he was fixing his vehicle and he was off the roadway and was not a traffic hazard.
Miscellaneous
On Aug. 11, Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Jefferson in regard to a tree limb in the roadway. Officer arrived and cleared the tree limb off the roadway.
On Aug. 12, Mohr received a call from the 500 block of E. Pecan that a parent was having an issue with a juvenile. Officer arrived and met with both parties.
On Aug. 13, Zwahr responded to a call in regard to a possible burglary in the 900 block of E. Pecan. Officer found no subject at the residence or any signs of anyone trying to enter the home.
On Aug. 13, Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of N. Main in reference to a subject with a warrant. Officer upon arrival arrested subject for the warrant and subject was transported to jail.
On Aug. 14, Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Jefferson in regard to a possible intoxicated driver. Officer arrived on location and searched the area. Subject was gone prior to officer arriving.
On Aug. 16, Wostarek was dispatched to the 900 block of N. Horton for a noise complaint. Officer arrived and spoke with the subjects and music was turned down.
