Kudos to The Record

To The Editor:

Congratulations to The Fayette County Record for the awards won in newspaper journalism. Writers have always been my heroes. I look to journalists to inform me about what is happening locally, state-wide, nationally and internationally. I believe that without newspaper journalists, governments internationally would run even further amuck than they do presently.

It is good to see that The Fayette County Record has won recognition from its peers in journalism. While these awards often focus on a select work, it is reassuring to note that awards keep coming year after year. I have grown up reading some of the best (and some considered the worst) journalists of my day and have learned from all of them. Perhaps that is why people see me as an independent (and sometimes stubborn) thinker and voter.

When asked the question “Who would you most like to go to dinner with?,” my answer would always be a journalist. My favorite journalist is Alejandro Junco De La Vega, from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. I helped design an organic golf course for him and would love to dine with him again. I would also like to have dinner with Andy Behlen. It is a pleasure to read someone who understands and writes about organic gardening in a local newspaper. I think we all need to acknowledge the difficult and challenging work of our journalists wherever they work. Again, congratulations for the awards. Keep them coming.
