Kudos to the Fair
To the Editor:
The Fayette County Republican Party would like to express its full support for the Fayette County Fair Board’s recent decision to not include political booths at this year’s county fair.
For generations, the county fair has been a place where families, friends, and neighbors come together to enjoy the best of our community — from livestock shows and carnival rides to live music, great food, cold Pivo and time honered traditions. It’s a time to celebrate what unites us, not what divides us.
While political booths have been part of the fair in the past and have offered meaningful opportunities for civic engagement, we understand and respect the Fair Board’s intent this year, to provide a family-based event focused purely on fun, fellowship.
The fair offers a much needed chance to take a break from daily routines and enjoy a weekend of Fayette County spirit. We appreciate the Fair Board’s efforts to preserve that atmosphere.
The Fayette County Republican Party remains committed to civic involvement and will continue offering opportunities for residents to meet candidates and engage in meaningful conversations about important issues throughout the year, in settings more appropriate for those discussions.
We look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s fair and joining together in celebration of everything that makes Fayette County special.
