Knee Jerk Reaction

To the editor:

The “knee jerk” reaction is an example of someone acting quickly and without much thought. It is usually aggressive and most times will produce negative consequences.

Ms. Hooper’s response to Ms. Hegar’s letter appears to be just that-knee jerk.

Some examples of quotes from Hooper’s letter: “Democrats are enraged.” Knee jerk.

“Democrats are to blame for “all” the rioting and hate.” Knee jerk.

“The egregious misuse of our judicial system.” Knee jerk. It appears that Ms. Hooper does not understand how the legal system works. She brings up Bragg, a prosecutor who was assigned to investigate Trump’s business dealings in New York. He found enough evidence, and a jury of Trump’s peers studied the facts and found Trump guilty on 34 accounts.

She also brings up Daniel Penny. Penny was on a subway in N.Y. when a man acting erratically got on. Penny felt he was a threat to others and put him in a choke hold that went bad. The man couldn’t breathe and died. Penny was arrested and tried, but was not convicted. Knee jerk.

FYI: Ms. Hegar’s letter never mentions politics or speaks negatively of anyone.
