Keeping Great Officers Worth the Cost
To the Editor:
If you don’t want to keep the best around, then don’t see that they are taken care of. We have the best law enforcement in the country period. It is well known, don’t go through Fayette County or cause a problem in La Grange. Everyone is safe here because of them. I have pride every time I see a Fayette County law enforcement vehicle, city or county as well as seeing them out on Interstate 10. I appreciate what they represent, U.S 1st class departments.
There is no reason why the very best of the best should ever be thinking about going somewhere else with the property values and money that is here in the county. They should get what the sheriff recommends and no negotiations.
The sheriff and police chief are the best you can ask for to serve and protect us. For all of the money that has been disrupted by our county law enforcement, how can anyone not make sure we are taking care of our officers? There are no excuses and we have the best nationally recognized law in the country and if we decide not to take care of them because they are the best then we will pay the price with more bad on the streets because we missed them. These officers do not miss many and they cannot be replaced.
When one is successful it is because of doing the little things that no one is doing. Our drug enforcement rewrites the records on successful traffic seizures. No one else is doing it better and it is protecting us all.
The sheriff wants to reward officers for talent and results. I myself respect authority and he says reward them then make it so. I would rather our guys get it for being legendary. We will lose great talent if we don’t get to reward them. The drug people get their drugs and money if we lose these men. Our society gets sicker if we lose these men.
How does our county not have the money along with the confiscated money to up all of our officer’s pay? We have a rich county with property values out of sight and who makes those calls out to Round Top? Our former Governor even lives here, come on Fayette County.
All of our law enforcement heroes (and we are exceptionally proud of our Officer Lehmann) should be recognized protecting us and running a very strong enforcement unit.
Everyone knows about Fayette County law enforcement and we are not missing much and how can you argue with results and record seizures along with National awards and notoriety? We do win here.
When someone is winning all of the time Coach Belichick, Alabama, UCLA basketball, UT swimming, 48 car Jimmy Johnson it is because they do things no one else does. If we are not loyal to them like they have been to us then they will go on and I will not blame them. I cannot believe this community will let that happen. The latest search/ siege on drug war that someone said we are losing $2,790,000 and this is a win to me. My hat is off to their boss and our elected sheriff who is trying to take care of them. Not many bosses do that anymore.
Common sense will prevent a lot of grief.
