Importance of Clean Restrooms
You walk in and the first thing you notice is if it is clean and the next thing you notice is if it smells. If those significant and important aspects meet with your approval, then you look around at the décor. Some are plain as can be but most are decorated, these days, with flair and creativity. You have to admit most people are critics when it comes to public restrooms.
It’s not a subject that most people talk about or mention in their everyday conversations. Public restrooms, (Also called privies or facilities.) are under a microscope more than usual mainly because of COVID-19. You have to admit, clean bathrooms create a positive reputation.
Now, those of you who can remember using an outside privy, that it wasn’t the greatest experience in the world. It definitely wasn’t appealing – to say the least. The old gas station restrooms of the 1950’s and 60’s were not especially attractive. They lacked cleanliness. Many of those old bathrooms were locked and you had to ask for a key before entering. My mother taught me not to touch anything and to be attentive to any and everything in the facility. But with the rise of the convenience stores in this modern era, a dirty bathroom can turn any customer off.
In my opinion, the weirdest bathroom, I ever entered was on my trip to Big Bend National Park. I entered a bathroom that the external walls were not built all the way up to the ceiling. I wondered what it was like in the middle of winter or summer. There were separate stalls in the restroom and it was clean but I didn’t feel like there was any privacy at all.
We Fayette County citizens are fortunate to have several clean and well-maintained facilities. For example, I call the restrooms in Weikels “the million-dollar bathroom.” Why? The interior design is absolutely beautiful and the facilities are always clean. Their no handson high-tech gadgets make any person feel safe. Texas One Stop of La Grange is another convenience store that takes pride in their restrooms. Even our local grocery store privies are clean and well maintained. I haven’t entered a bathroom in Fayette County that hasn’t been well maintained. Bravo to Fayette County store owners and their employees.
People are cleaning everything due to the pandemic. One thing that is absolutely necessary is sparkling clean public bathroom, whether in a convenience store or the local grocery store. In my opinion, restroom maintenance is a number one priority in any convenience store or public restroom.
