I’m Done With Professional Sports
To the Editor:
I have been a sport’s fanatic fan all my life; at least my wife thinks so. Played four sports in a small high school, baseball at the college level and a few years at the pro level. I played for the love of the game and would have played for no pay if the Dodgers had agreed to feed me and house me......years before the days of million dollar contracts. All of that I can handle and I don’t begrudge an athlete’s pay. However, when pro athletics becomes political with a disrespect for our flag and country and support for what I think is a Marxist organization (BLM), I’m done watch ing, listening, reading, attending or buying any athletic goods from all professional sports. Actually, the intercollegiate sports are becoming infected and I’ve resigned myself to supporting youth and high school sports only.
Surprisingly, I don’t miss it and finding I have time for other more important things in life, including a wife that’s making things around the house so much more pleasant. Chances are I’m done with pro sports for life.
