Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda Hosting Pork BBQ Fundraiser Sept. 6
Warda in Wendish means “we are here,” and Holy Cross Lutheran Church certainly wants you to “be here in Warda” on Sunday, Sept. 6, to enjoy some great pork BBQ. With so many events being cancelled and restrictions on large gatherings making it challenging to hold an event, the congregation of Holy Cross Lutheran Church made the difficult decision to not hold their annual church picnic this year.
However, one of the best things about the picnic has always been great BBQ and you will still be able to enjoy it. They will sell BBQ pork by the pound and BBQ sauce to-go on Sunday, Sept. 6. BBQ will be $11 per pound and cups of sauce will be $2 each. The drive-thru at the church picnic grounds starts at 10 a.m.
Pre-orders are appreciated, but not required. Call (979) 242-3333 or (318) 458-8558 to place your order. There will be no other picnic activities held this year. They would greatly appreciate your support and encourage you to come out and pick up some great BBQ pork.
Sewing Circle
Ladies, are you looking for things to do to keep you busy and still have social distancing? The Sewing Circle at Holy Cross can use your help. If you can cut a fabric square or trim a stamp, you can help us! Squares are used to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief and the stamps are sold to collectors to help pay for the shipping of the quilts. They gather each Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to noon. They enjoy taking a break at 10 a.m. to have coffee and snacks while sharing friendly updates on family and friends. They would love to have you join them. If you would like more information, contact Cindy Heselmeyer at cindyhesel@ yahoo.com or just come out and join in on Thursday morning. They meet in the old parish hall around the back side of the church.
