Hog Report

Hogs are back in the area again and are tearing up fields. Area residents have once again begun trapping and hunting hogs more aggressively to keep them in check. Several hogs have been hit on the roads, causing problems with the vultures coming in to feast on the carcasses.

Out and About

The recent nice weather presented a great opportunity for a girls’ weekend close to home for Pam Sheffield, Pam Knotts and Anne Wright. The ladies spent a few days shopping and trying new restaurants in the Town Lake area of Cypress. The weekend started off in Flatonia with breakfast at Darlin’s Diner, with the next stop being in Houston to drop Bonnie, Anne’s dog, off at the puppy sitter to be spoiled rotten. The ladies enjoyed going out to have great breakfasts and wonderful shopping, and running errands. The evening brought the fun of going out for a hamburger, which was so huge that the ladies had to cut into thirds so they could share. On the last morning out, the ladies enjoyed a breakfast of crepes and gelato. This adventure has lead to the planning of future get aways.

Jennifer Rightmer travelled to Austin and met her dad, Will Howard from Lakeway, for lunch. They enjoyed catching up and making plans for Thanksgiving.

Karen Jacobs was down and cleaned up the Muldoon Community Center grounds last weekend. She took on the mowing, and made the lawn around the Muldoon Community Center look just as great as the Muldoon Community Park in front of it. “Downtown” Muldoon is looking really good right now, with the Muldoon Mercantile also being exceptionally wellgroomed.

Hunters

It is that time of year again when the deer hunters start coming out. Keep your eyes out and be aware of your surroundings and make sure to wear bright colors when you are out and about in the pastures. Take note of any odd vehicles and let the land owners know if there seems to be someone on their land.

Weather

Muldoon has been seeing cool mornings in the 60s and warm afternoons in the high 80s. It has been this weather pattern that seems to have brought out the swarms of migrating butterflies that are fluttering across the roads and covering windshields and grills of any vehicle that is out and about. There is a chance of rain in the forecast as of this writing, and any moisture would be welcomed to bring on the fall grasses.
