The Great Divide

To the Editor:

I have thought a lot about ways to heal the great divide between the two political parties. I have even tried a few without much luck.

I recently read a simple, yet beautiful, book, “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse” by Charlie Mackesy. This little book is about very different beings who do find common ground.

I would recommend it to those who are looking for ways to help heal the divide. Of course it isn’t that simple, but it could be a beginning.

Here are some quotes from the book that I found helpful: “One of our greatest freedoms is how we react to things.”

“Everyone is a bit scared, but we are less scared together.”

“Nothing beats kindness. It sits quietly beyond all things.”

Our fantastic Fayette County Library has ordered the book. I hope some of you will look for it soon.
