The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

To the Editor:

The premise of this Clint Eastwood movie is that there is some of all three, good, bad, ugly, in nature and humankind. It appears the premise may be correct.

Let’s start with the good. This Labor Day Weekend, as it does every year, the Fair Association had Senior Day on the opening day of the Fayette County Fair. A lunch was provided at the KC Hall for seniors. The cost was $5. Kudos to the cooks. It was a delicious lunch, and the Hall was packed. The atmosphere was a friendly buzz with visiting between the folks and smiles all around as eating and chatting began.

Next, just a little disappointment, I’ll point out as bad. The Association decided not to have our Patriotic political booths this year. I missed the fun of setting up our booth and providing information to interested folks. It is always fun to meet people from other parts of Fayette County and even other counties. Believe it or not, I enjoy visiting with my Republican friends. What is more Patriotic than political booths at a county fair?

Now for the ugly. We have a President, elected by the people, who likes to show off his ugly side. It is hard to believe that anyone could think it is all right to lie about and put a target on folks you don’t agree with and think have done you wrong. This president does just that by pulling protection from those he views as enemies. Could anyone believe that is a moral decision? Apparently his supporters believe they have been given permission to do the same. On the opinion page in The Fayette County Record, Aug. 29, titled “Questions and Observations,” it appears to show hatred toward folks here in Fayette County. Sadly, the letter contained mega misinformation about perceived enemies, the Democrats, and plenty of ugly. Hopefully, the crazies aren’t reading what the misinformed write.
