Facts and Opinions

To the Editor:

This is in response to the LTE that was in the paper on March 13, 2026 titled “ Tired, Old Talking Points” by Glynis Tietjen. I really think Ms. Tietjen wants to get facts right. Since she mentioned Mr. Green, I would like to thank him for pointing out clearly the difference between actual facts and “Alternative Facts,” and giving us options for finding non-partisan facts.

It appears to me that Ms. Tietjen’s ideas in her letters are talking points straight from Fox News. She mentions that she feels CNN, ABC, and CBS report fake news. Fox News is not mentioned. Here are some facts about Fox News: 1. Fox News agreed to a $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems in 2023 to resolve a defamation lawsuit regarding false claims about the 2020 presidential election. The settlement was reached before trial began. Fox avoided an admission of guilt but was required to acknowledge the court’s ruling that Fox News broadcasted claims that were false.

2. Fox still faces a pending $2.7 defamation lawsuit from Smartmatic. The company is fighting back lies from Fox News that harm Democracy, discredit election officials, and put profits over truth.

We all have opinions that others might not agree with, but we must not put them out as facts without the research.
