Extremism & Humanity
To the Editor:
According to Mr. Mc-Cord’s letter to the Editor in last Friday’s Record, “words and/or actions are not just choices. They show an individual’s level of humanity.”
Mr. McCord’s words have shown his level of humanity.
He is willing to misinterpret and malign Charlie Kirk’s character and message while presuming to speak for Republicans by saying they “got what they wanted and were done with him.”
Republicans didn’t kill Charlie, a mental attitude of hatred from an individual who didn’t want his preferred ideology or lifestyle to be questioned or challenged. Mr. McCord reports, “the shooter at the Evergreen High School had a lot of extreme ideological posts that included white supremacy” and was “reported to be radicalized by extremist groups…”. This radicalization and these extremist groups need to be eliminated.
The individuals who chose to use guns against unarmed, unsuspecting individuals (Charlie and the students on the Evergreen School campus) are cowards who didn’t want their ideology questioned— whatever that ideology was.
It’s time to dehumanize guns. Gun control is not the solution. People need to learn self-control and respect for others.
These radical ideologies that influence these young individuals to act out violently with a gun have no respect for life, liberty, or anyone’s pursuit of happiness.
It is my opinion that Mr. McCord’s perception is tragically off base.
