Exploration During the Time of COVID
To the Editor:
During the months of this pandemic, my husband and I, who are in that stage of life known as “high risk’” have obediently stayed home. But once a week we drive around this beautiful county to explore unfamiliar roads. Last week we looked at the map and realized we were running out of new places to explore. Truth be told, I was also dreaming of a large “Meat Eater’s” pizza from Reba’s, so La Grange became our destiny. While we were there, we noticed an “Open” sign on the Quilt Museum and decided to drop in. That museum has always been a delight, but this time for two people hungry for something different than our own home, it was especially so. There was only one other couple there, and we all had on masks, so we felt very safe.
The artistry of those quilts entertained and amazed us for a long while. So don’t sit at home and feel bored watching the same old thing on television. Get yourself to The Quilt Museum in La Grange. (Open Thur - Sat 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) When you get there be sure to go into the south gallery to see if you can find the Day of the Dead quilt showing the Monarch Butterflies in flight. Our favorite.
