Don’t Politicize Vaccine
To the Editor:
The COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccine to prevent it should not be political. This effects all of us, whether we are Democrats, Republicans, or Independent. Encouraging vaccines should not be seen as interference in a person’s rights, but a call to help save lives amd get control of this virus. We all want to help our friends and neighbors and preserve the American way of life that we enjoy and love.
I’m concerned that a leader in a political party would write such misleading information.
The first misrepresentation about President Biden and Kamala Harris stating that the vaccine would not be safe if ready by fall is false. This was reported on TicTok and deemed a false statement. The truth is that they said they did not trust Trump with the COVID-19 vaccine.
The second claim that conservatives cannot find information on the vaccine and that it is the Democrats’ fault is absurd. The citizens of Fayette County can contact our emergency manager, read the data in the newspaper, find scientific information at CDC, ask their doctors, or the WHO. The scientific information on the virus and the vaccine is readily available.
The third reason is equally absurd that those who have been vaccinated and still wear masks proves that the vaccine doesn’t work. The masks are worn to protect the children who can’t yet be vaccinated and the unvaccinated. Even if you have been vaccinated you can carry, unknowingly, the virus with few symptoms and spread it. If vaccinated persons get the virus anyway, it has been less severe and less life threatening.
It is untrue that illegal immigrants are allowed into the United States without being tested. This false story was reported on Fox News. Policy for testing immigrants has not changed under the Biden administration.
Lastly, Dr. Fauci has been a highly respected expert on diseases long before the pandemic. The information on the virus and vaccine by the Biden administration is based on science. It has been found that those who have the virus and have the antibodies are somewhat protected, but would be more protected if they also get the vaccine.
Fear mongering has been the Republicans’ agenda, not the Biden’s administration. The danger to the American people is real as evidenced by the statistics. President Biden has repeatedly urged citizens to use logic and scientific research to find the facts.
