Don’t Attack Differences
To the Editor:
I am writing in response to Justin McCord’s recent letter regarding attacks on the LGBTQ community. I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. McCord’s sentiments that these attacks are unwarranted. They only serve to create needless fear and hatred.
In a country facing so many real problems, it is disheartening to see agendas against LGBTQ individuals who pose no danger to anyone, let alone children. We must come together to support and uplift one another, not attack those who are different from us.
When small groups of people are attacked to promote any agenda, we all suffer the consequences. We get angry for no reason. We look for things that are not there.
Furthermore, I would like to thank Arnold Romberg for his letter on responsible gun rights. It is crucial that we address the issue of gun violence in this country in a responsible and measured way. We can have our guns and appropriate legislation.
I urge our government representatives to focus on addressing the actual problems facing our country, rather than dividing us with attacks on marginalized communities. Additionally, I encourage people to be mindful of the news networks they consume. Some networks shamefully and deceptively create deadly fears and anxieties in gun owners, leading to close-minded attitudes and a lack of perspective.
Let us come together as a nation to support one another and address the real issues that affect us all.
