Division a Distraction
To the Editor:
Masks vs. no masks. Black vs. blue. Mail-in vs. in-person. There is so much division in our nation right now. We have gone beyond loving our fellow man to seeing him as an obstacle that must be persuaded using the same rhetoric we are being spoon fed by the nightly news. A rhetoric that amplifies the trivial and neglects the larger threats that are prowling on our country’s doorstep.
We knew division was coming. The Bible tells us in Mark 13:12, “Brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child; children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.” I always wondered what could cause such division. Certainly, it can’t be something so simple as a mask? In an age where courts allow children to decide which gender they want to be, it dumbfounds me that someone would be so offended that I would choose to socially distance rather than wear a mask. (May I remind those that have not actually read the governor’s executive order that masks are only required wherever it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distancing, whether inside or out.) Masks not only offer a false sense of security against viruses, but they are a false flag to distract us from the real evil that is lurking.
Being required to wear a mask is a slippery slope. Being told that I must pay for the killing of millions of innocent babies through abortion was a devastating blow. Any attempt at forced vaccination of my family with an unsafe, untested vaccine will be the last straw. But these are all distractions from the true enemy. The chipping away of our liberties is only inches away from the destruction of our religious freedoms. If my ultimate goal in life is to be with my Savior in Paradise, and to encourage others to do the same, then any subversion of liberty poses a threat to my family and me.
What happens in a country devoid of religious freedom? Look at China. President Xi has required that religious organizations must adhere to the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party. Christian children under 18 are not allowed to go to church, video cameras and DNA evidence are used to identify and persecute worshipers, and Bibles are “amended to the values of socialism.” Beijing announced that the exiled Dalai Lama will not be allowed to discover his reincarnated successor (a sacred Buddhist tradition) – the Chinese government will decide one instead. Meanwhile, nearly two million Uighur Muslims are being placed in concentration camps where they are being raped, tortured, sterilized, “re-educated,” and their organs harvested and sold, all while the world sits idly by.
Many believe such atrocities will not come here. But, there are those in our country that openly espouse the ideals of Communism. Not familiar with those ideals? Look at just a few of the 45 Communist goals that were read into the US Congressional Record in 1963:
15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
17. Get control of the schools. Soften the curriculum.
20. Infiltrate the press.
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion.
31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history.
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition.
The US Communist party has been surprisingly effective in accomplishing their agenda. We need Americans to stop fighting each other and assert our liberties. If the Governor can arbitrarily suspend laws, what’s next? Cardinal Charles Bo sums it up well, “We have learned from heavy experience that wherever freedom as a whole is undermined, freedom of religion…- -sooner or later- is affected.” Wake up America and recognize the real evil that is dividing and destroying our country.
Liberty matters.
