In Defense of Donald
To the Editor:
I do not like to write things unless I can back them up, or give the news source. Otherwise, the letters I write may just be my personal sentiments, and I try to state that if so.
I would like to ask some writers of last week’s letters to the editor to not spread false statements. Examples from last week, that Republicans want to do away with social security. Not true. Where are your facts? And please do not use false campaign rhetoric stated by Joe Biden.
Also, from last week’s letters, Republicans want to control what happens to our bodies. Again, not true. Republicans simply do not want innocent babies killed, nor do they want “children,” having life altering surgeries before they are even old enough to understand the consequences. Our brains do not mature until mid to late 20’s. If parents do not have sense enough but to allow their child to make that decision before they are adults, the child surely doesn’t.
On Jan. 6, I personally heard and saw Donald Trump say to protest peacefully. It was televised. And later, Pelosi would not let Republicans sit on the Jan. 6th committee. Is that just and right?
Sometimes we are so set in our beliefs we cannot see the forest for the trees. Again, contrary to statements in last week’s letters, every MAGA supporter I know is God fearing and family oriented. They do not want liberals burning down cities, robbing stores, and murdering people walking in a subway, and then those same liberal left radicals receiving a get out of jail free card.
The MAGA Republicans I know do not want sexually dressed drag queens reading to our children, or books with sexual pornography in school libraries. MAGA supporters do not want men in women’s sports, in women’s restrooms, or wearing heels, lipstick and bras in public ads and beer companies supporting them.
Do I believe Trump was perfect? No. Do I believe every president now and before him was perfect? No. There is also a lot to be said of the shenanigans now being reported of the current FBI, DOJ and even the current president and his office. Maybe Trump knew of things that we did not, and spoke to protect the U.S.
Other writers want to talk of Republicans not standing by our Constitution? What do you call a Trump hating DAin New York whose sole purpose is to “get Trump?” DA Bragg even campaigned on that statement which I understand is reason to be disbarred. This DA indicted an “ex president of the United States,” on whom the Feds wouldn’t even touch the same crime. A crime that is past statute of limitation and designated a misdemeanor, and having nothing to do with running for an office. But the same Democrat DA lies to bring the charge up to a felony. Is that going by the laws of our country?
I will end with this.An indicator of future behavior is past behavior. Despite some things Trump may have said and done, I also know that when he was in office, gas and food prices were more than reasonable, ISIS was depleted, drugs and illegals and crime in our country were very much less, and there was no threat of a third World War. I could sleep at night without fear of nuclear weapons. I’ll take that any day over a few poorly chosen words.
