Constitution Doesn’t Have Asterisks
To the Editor:
Mr. Mikus, I give you FACTS on what our Constitution says, and you come back with what amounts to emotional blackmail with hysteria, shaming, and exaggeration. You and I have very different ideas on the meaning of freedom and liberty. This is the last letter addressed to you on this subject; but I’m sure not the last response to a letter from you as I’m certain we disagree on pretty much everything.
Let’s go over it one more time. The Constitution of the United States takes a back seat to nothing or no one. There is no asterisk, exhibit, attachment, or appendix that states the Constitution ceases to be the law of the land when pandemics or whatever other excuse someone wants to use, happen. You mentioned the Founding Fathers. I believe they would be appalled at how far our government has fallen and diverted from the intent of the Constitution. They would be horrified at how the American people have allowed their government to subvert the Constitution.
You talk about all the people that have died, how horrible their deaths were, etc. due to the pandemic. I am not diminishing their deaths in the least. Losing loved ones for ANY reason is tragic. What I am saying is forcing people to wear masks infringes on their personal liberties. If you are willing to give those up, fine. I am not It has nothing to do with selfishness unless you consider standing by the Constitution selfish. If people want to wear masks, then please do so. If they have a need to shelter in place, that is their right Oh, and for the record, I am a member of the most at-risk group. I just don’t choose to live my life in fear. So, for conversation sake, let’s say we all wear masks. How long will we wear them? Forever, like China? There is enough proof to call into question the effectiveness of masks. Even the CDC says “masks MAY (not will or do) control the spread of the virus.” Did you know that if two people, both with masks on, are within six feet of each other for more than 15 minutes, masks become ineffective? That was listed on the CDC website as well. To anyone whose been paying attention, they will have noticed the number of cases and deaths appear to be exaggerated; there are enough stories to call into question the accuracy of numbers being used.
To address your comment on the book “Hoax” by Brian Stelter. He’s your source and investigative reporter? The CNN reporter who has been called out as being a “ridiculous soulless clown” by the NY Post’s editor and his comments have been condemned by not only those on the right but also by his own people? Brian Stelter is a left-wing hack, promoting the left-wing agenda. If this is your proof of wrongdoing by Fox, you lost case Counselor.
I’ll close with some comments made last Thursday by Supreme Court Justice, Samuel Alito:
‘Religious liberty and free speech are among Americans’ personal freedoms potentially imperiled along with government overreach during the coronavirus
He mentions the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s belief in originalism, the interpretation of the US. Constitution based on its “public meaning at the time of its adoption.” He closed by saying that “standing up for the Constitution and freedom is work that lies ahead for all Americans.”
