Choose Freedom
To the Editor:
There are many definitions of freedom related to personal, economic, social, governmental, international, and foremost spiritual. There is one common denominator in all of these.
The more opportunities to make informed choices the more freedom we have. It begins as a baby with no choices and no freedom. As we gain the ability to make more choices, we gain more freedom. That ability to make choices comes through mature thought processes, basic education, life experiences, economic pursuits, stable limited government, equitable law enforcement, predictable daily outcomes and growing faith. With the steady gain of these components we are more in a position to make the most of our choices in the pursuit of freedom.
At some point these com-ponents begin to fade. Mature thought processes begin to lose acuity leading to confusion. Educational and experimental knowledge fade in our rear view mirror. We lose control of our economic pursuits. Government becomes less stable and more invasive. Laws become more controlling and outcomes become less predictable. The steady loss of choices returns us to where we started, as a baby with no choices, only our faith in the Lord. Without choices there is no true freedom. So, in the recent election did you vote for more choices or less? More freedom or less?
Cherish your freedom of choice as you choose freedom. Life is good. Don’t let it slip away. Blessings to all.
