Carmine Chamber of Commerce Announces Christmas Decorating Contest Winners

Christmas Decorating Contest
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners in the Christmas Decoration Contest.
In the residential division, first place went to Gerald and Sidnie Byrket. Second place was won by Gene and Boo Goolsby. Third place was a tie between Dennis and Charlotte Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Fernando Cerda. The judges chose Gary and Joan Goebel’s residence as Honorable Mention.
In the business division, Darlene’s Custom Sewing received first place. McCall’s Style was awarded second place.
Congratulations to all the Christmas light decorators in Carmine. Everyone has really enjoyed seeing all the beautiful endeavors in spreading the Christmas spirit.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine ISD is on Winter break until Jan. 6. The spring semester of classes begins on Jan. 7. Jan. 6 is a teacher work day.
The high school varsity girls and boys basketball teams host Dime Box on Jan. 8 and play at Buckholts on Jan. 12.
Jr. High teams play at Fayetteville on Jan. 7 and host Dime Box on Jan. 11.
Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. The regular meeting is January 28.
MLLC News
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m. Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Baptism of Our Lord, is at 10 a.m. Praise Team leads songs and the Noisy Offering will be collected. The 2021 Noisy Offering will go to AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange and Burton Bridge Ministry food program. The service will also be on mllccarmine.com. Property and Christian Ed Committees meet after worship. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Quilting for Lutheran World Relief is Monday at 9 a.m.
Recycling
The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans are accepted. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated. Attendants are available to help unload.
They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items until they are open.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30 to 11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
