Carmine Chamber Casino Night Set Aug. 8

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is planning to have their Casino Night on Saturday, Aug. 8, beginning at 6 p.m. This year will be a German theme: Prost Casino Night. Individual tickets will be $30, which includes the meal, drinks and entertainment. We will also have tables for eight available. Please contact any chamber director for more information. We plan on having a great turnout again this year and hope you can join us.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine ISD is planning to re-open school on August 19. In the event there is a campus closure, digital education will be provided.

In addition to the school supply list, students will also need to bring a mask for personal use, a personal hand sanitizer for those students sensitive to commercial brands and a plastic water bottle labeled with the student’s name. Check the school website at www.rtcisd.net for updates.

Round Top-Carmine ISD will screen three and four-year-old children in the RT-C school district for the Early Childhood Program on Wednesday, July 22, from 9 a.m. until noon at the elementary school located at 608 North Washington Street in Round Top.

Registration for the 2020- 2021 Prekindergarten Class will also be open for students living in the RT-C ISD or are eligible for transfer into the district. A child must be four years of age on September 1 to be eligible. For more eligibility guidelines, go the RT-C ISD website or call Linda McCulloch at the school with questions at (979) 249- 3200.

District and campus offices were closed July 6 through 10.

Carmine VFD

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department’s Firemen’s Feast and Fundraiser in July is cancelled. They hope to see everybody in 2021.

Drill night was held on July 9 and the regular meeting night is July 23.

Walk for Life

New Beginnings Life Ministries is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, August 8, with a Walk for Life, raffle and Chick-fil-A meal.

The Walk is from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Raffle tickets are $5 each or $20 for a pack of five and may be purchased in person or online.

The Chick-fil-A meal box tickets are $10 and include a sandwich, chips and a cookie. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the Center at 1016 E Blue Bell RD, Brenham, TX 77833 and the deadline is July 31.

If there is a problem due to COVID-19, they will serve the meal as a drive-thru and still hold the drawing.

MLLC News

Saturday worship service with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Holy Communion will be offered using prepackaged wafer and wine kits for both Saturday and Sunday services.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m. Worship service is at 10 a.m. Precautionary guidelines will be followed at both services. The service will also be on mllccarmine.com. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor. AA meets Sunday at 5 p.m.

Domino Party is Monday at 1 p.m.

Church Council meets Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Recycling

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Items accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics, all colors of glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans.
