    Carmine Chamber Casino Night Canceled

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce has canceled the 2020 Casino Night, which was scheduled for Oct. 10.

Carmine Night Out will be held on Oct. 15 at the Carmine Fire Station, beginning at 6 p.m. It will include a flag retirement ceremony. Bins for these flags are located at JW’s Steakhouse, Village Market and Carmine State Bank. You may deposit American, Texas or flags from any branch of the military.

Carmine VFD

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting will be on Sept. 24.

The burn ban has been lifted for Fayette County. If you plan a controlled burn, call the sheriff’s office at (979) 968-5856 to give them your name, phone number and the location of burn. In Washington County, call (979) 277-7373.

Baptism

Caroline Rae Lange, daughter of Codie and Bridget Lange, was baptized at Martin Luther Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Tinker on Sept. 12. Her sponsors are Casey and Shelbi Lange, Kirt and Jessica Weyand and Gabriel and Catherine Velasquez.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine High School varsity volleyball team beat Richards in three sets on Sept. 8. Jr. High won in two sets.

Varsity defeated Somerville on Sept. 11 in three sets. The JV team beat Somerville in two sets.

Barbecue Drive-Thru

Waldeck Lutheran Church will have a Barbecue drive-thru only on Sept. 27. Whole chickens are $10 each and sausage links are $7 each. Homemade BBQ sauce will also be available. Pre-order by calling (979) 249-6551 or (979) 966-8872. Pick up is from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Harvest Festival

The annual Harvest Festival of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will be held on Oct. 18 at the Carmine Hall. Confirmation class recognitions will not be held this year. The worship service is at 10:15 a.m. at the hall with the Praise Team leading Country Gospel songs.

A kettle fried chicken meal will be drive-through only from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Call the church at (979) 278- 3388 to reserve tickets and for more information.

MLLC News

Saturday worship service with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m. Prepackaged wafer and juice kits are being used. Precautionary guidelines are followed at both services. The service will also be on mllccarmine.com. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

AA meets Sunday at 5 p.m.

Men in Mission meet Monday at 7 p.m.

Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fri days and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Recycling

The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Items accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated. Attendants are available to help unload.

They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items until they are open.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30 to 11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
