• Amber Flowers, 34 of Lincoln, was sentenced on four counts in the Lee County District Court on Sept. 22. Flowers is one of two suspects allegedly involved in the Dec. 13, 2019, early morning burglaries at different locations in Dime Box. She allegedly conspired with Daniel Zuniga, 38 of Smithville, to commit the crimes. Zuniga has not yet been in court. Both allegedly hit the Dime Box ISD concession stand, the outside mail collection box at the Post Office, and attempted to break into the coin boxes at the Dime Box Jet Car Wash. Also, some rural mailboxes were bashed and rummaged through FM 141, CR 424, and CR 430.

• Several suspects were arrested on Oct. 3 following a law enforcement pursuit that led through Hallettsville and ended near Shiner. Around 5 p.m. Hallettsville Police Department was dispatched to a reckless vehicle entering into Hallettsville over 100 mph. Hallettsville PD attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the suspect vehicle refused to stop and continued towards Shiner. A Shiner PD officer set up spikes which proved to be effective. The vehicle traveled down 8th Street where one of the passengers bailed out of the moving vehicle and evaded on foot before being caught. The vehicle was stopped shortly afterward with the remaining occupants taken into custody. It was later confirmed that the vehicle was stolen out of Houston during an armed robbery.

• From major, high profile projects to minor building renovations, the Sealy Economic De-velopment Corporation (EDC) currently has 36 “done deal” projects in the works with more prospects coming in all the time. Of the 36 projects identified on the list, 20 are existing building and retail projects downtown, including a restaurant, eight are single-family developments, six are multi-family developments, five are manufacturers, four a retail, and the rest include a private emergency medical center, office/warehouse space, an RV park, a Head Start school, a self-defense school, a customer service facility, a physician’s office, and improvements to the Sealy Historical Society. Robert Worley, executive director of the Sealy EDC, said the combined capital investment of the 36 projects in Sealy is $450 million.

• The victims of a late-night shooting on Oct. 9 on the 300 block of Allen Street in Eagle Lake are now in stable condition. Eagle Lake Police Officers were dispatched at about 11:30 p.m. to two different homes. Police arrived at the Allen Street home where a female victim was shot. A male victim was also shot at the home but left on foot to a nearby residence. The shooting remains under investigation. “The City in the last 2-3 years has had an increase in crime, and we are doing everything we can to address this serious issue,” Mayor Mary Parr said. “We are finalizing an
