Bluster and Innuendo
To the Editor:
Oh Mr. Mikus’ where to begin to respond to your sanctimonious letter about COVID concerns.
Given the fact that Democrats routinely stomp all over the Constitution, I’m amused that you would use it as your basis for argument now. So, let’s talk about what the Constitution actually says:
The Constitution of the United States says many things about how our government should function on the federal and state level. However, it doesn’t say anything about forcing American citizens to remain prisoners in their homes without public debate and consent In fact, it says several times, that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process. House arrest, blanket business closures, unconstitutional bans on public gatherings by executive fiat, and mandates forcing mask wearing deny Americans’ due process as protected by the 1st, 5th, and 14th Amendments.
Humanity has survived on this planet for thousands of years and through that time we have faced any number of plagues, famines, contagious diseases, etc. Humanity has survived by facing these challenges head on, without being forced to wear masks, shelter in place, etc. We deal with the flu every year with no shutdowns, shelter in place, no masks. So why are we being forced now? That is the million-dollar question and a conversation for another day.
To your comment “No where in our Constitution or Bill of Rights are truly patriotic Americans granted the illusory “Freedom” to irresponsibly endanger the lives of their fellow Americans, especially the elderly or their own children and grandchildren. Those who refuse to wear a mask in public need to examine their consciences while pondering the Golden Rule and Respect for Life and the Common Good and old-fashioned Self-Responsibility and, if while doing so, they have no sense of personal shame, then all is indeed lost even after this pandemic. For without Life there can be no Freedom.” Here’s my response to the above statements. 1. All of this is just bluster and innuendo in an attempt to shame people, a favorite tactic of Democrats. Democrats using words like respect for life, golden rule, common good is funny since those words never come up in any actions the Democrats take. 2. More importantly, Freedom in America is not an illusion Mr. Mikus. It’s what the Constitution and Bill of Rights were put in place to protect. It’s what thousands of Americans have died for. It would appear that you have distain for “truly patriotic Americans.” Is that true Mr. Mikus? Do you think that truly patriotic Americans are somehow bad? There are a lot of truly patriotic Americans in Fayette County.
Maybe our definition of truly patriotic Americans is different. My definition: Americans who love their country, who will stand up to injustice and threats to the American way. Those who would give their lives to protect what the Constitution and Bill of Rights stand for. Those who would stand up to government overreach. What’s your definition Mr. Mikus? Shame on you for even making that statement But then Democrats really aren’t that interested in patriotism, honor, integrity, or truth. They are more interested in destroying America and remaking it in their own image.
