Blood Drive a Success, 22 Units Donated
The Blood Drive held on Aug. 23 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church was a successful drive with credit for 22 units. There was a very good turnout and the leaders appreciate all who made appointments and gave blood. It was sponsored in conjunction with Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine ISD is providing virtual learner students with one grab-n-go meal per day. They may be picked up between 12:30 and 1 p.m. at the elementary campus. Parents or legal guardians must call the school before 9 a.m. to report the student as eating so that meals may be prepared. Call the school upon arrival so they may be brought to you. High School varsity volleyball team was defeated by Weimar in four sets on Aug. 25.
Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department reminds everyone that the burn ban in still in effect for Fayette County.
This month, they plan to resume drill night on the second Thursday and regular meeting on the fourth Thursday.
Baptism
Kane Duke Jacob was baptized at Martin Luther Lutheran Church on Aug. 30 by the Rev. David Tinker. He is the son of Tanner and Brittany Jacob. His sponsors are Shane Hanchey, Caitlin Jacob and Wacey Buro.
Fried Chicken Dinner
A fried chicken dinner will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Carmine Hall. It is sponsored by the Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from any hall member. It is drive-thru only with pick up from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Casino Night
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Casino night is planned for Oct. 10. It is normally held in August, but the chamber rescheduled it due to COVID-19.

Harvest Festival
The annual Harvest Festival of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will be held on Oct. 18 at the Carmine Hall. Confirmation class recognitions will not be held this year. The worship service is at 10:15 a.m. at the hall with the praise team leading country gospel songs. A kettle fried chicken meal will be drive-through only from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Call the church at (979) 278-3388 for more information.
MLLC News
Rebekah Group meets on Thursday at 2 p.m.
Saturday worship service with Holy Communion and the baptism of Caroline Rae Lange is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is at 9 a.m. with a “New Year” party. Blessing of backpacks and Sunday school promotion will be at 10 a.m., before the worship service begins.
Worship service with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m. Prepackaged wafer and juice kits are being used. Precautionary guidelines are followed at both services. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. Property and Christian Ed Committees meet after worship. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
AA meets on Sunday at 5 p.m.
Quilting for Camp For All is on Monday at 9 a.m.
Stewardship Committee meets on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Visitors’ Center
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Recycling
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Items accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated. Attendants are available to help unload.
They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items until they are open.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30 to 11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
