Blight on the Bluff
To the Editor:
Having had to travel U.S. Highway 77 both north and south numerous times per day I am drawn to the attention of the trash and litter that is strewn along the sides of the road. Beer cans, paper bags, broken glass, glass bottles, automobile front end clips, drug paraphernalia, and downed tree limbs litter the once scenic spot.
Constructed by the WPA during the late 1920’s, the switchback was a scene of beauty as motorists had a panoramic view of the City of La Grange as they approach from the south. The once serene setting is now blocked by trees and underbrush only to be replaced as a refuse dump. Wonder what visitors think as the approach our city?
Time to clean it up and keep it clean.
