Assault on Truth

To the editor:

Not only was there an assault on our Capitol and our Democracy, but there is an ongoing assault on the truth. I watched the assault on our capitol in real time with sadness, horror, and anger. It reminded me of a third world country. There is a bi-partisan committee investigating the January 6 insurrection proving the truth of when and how this happened in our great nation. Right here in Fayette County, in the City of La Grange, in our beautiful country club, a group listened to a Texas man who entered the Capitol on January 6 illegally, arrested and accused of obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct spread falsehoods about the election and try to justify the insurrection. There is a faction right here in Fayette County who would rather believe an insurrectionist than look at the facts, the truth presented by the hearings.

Paraphrasing from the song by Robert Preston, “Ya Got Trouble:”

“Friend, ya got trouble right here in Fayette County,

Friend, you’re closing your eyes to a situation you do not acknowledge, Or you’re not aware of disaster indicated. Well, Ya got trouble, my

Well, Ya got trouble, my friend, Right here in Fayette County!”

I do not believe the majority of folks in Fayette County go along with the lies this “trouble” brings. What is more important than the truth?
