100 Years of Dedication

To The Editor:

Your column regarding the 100 years of The Record gave me many smiles, and then a bit of sadness.

We officially bought our home here in December of 2009, yet didn’t move here till June 9, 2011.

We were so anxious to live here and be part of all that is Fayette County that we started taking the Record in the spring of 2010 I believe. I think it was Theresia who would hand label the Tuesday paper for it to be mailed to our Katy home and then we’d find our Friday edition in our mailbox here. She did that until we made the permanent move up here some 16 months later.

We poured over the entire paper, and it helped us know that we made the right choice in choosing Fayette County as our forever home. We even made friends (still are) with Brenda and the late Freemon Miles as they were our next door neighbors.

Of course, there were many reasons for choosing this beautiful part of Texas. Our beloved church, the great hospital, the airport (we owned a plane until last year) the little country club, the gorgeous courthouse on the square, The Bugle Boy, as well as many other things.

As I read your article I could see all the folks busily working together to get The Record out on a timely basis all those years. What dedication it took and still does!

As we tell many folks “we got here as soon as we could” and will stay since this is truly our home.

Thank you, all of you for the many years of dedicated service in getting the news to us.
