Leps Knocked from the Playoffs by Madisonville

La Grange’s football season ended on a rainy night in Bryan Thursday with a 55-7 loss to Madisonville in the first round of the 4A playoffs. It was the second consecutive season the Mustangs (9-2) had ended the Leps’ postseason in the first round after last year’s 41-21 loss.

No Final Football Jackpot Winner

With our local teams being knocked out of the playoffs, last week was our final reader pick-it football contest of the season and nobody grabbed the final $100 jackpot – though five people came close. Dan L. Leer, William Trilica, Michael Koeth Jr, Walter Newcomb and Brian Cox all went into Sunday 8-0 but all missed the same game, picking the Bengals over the Texans to ruin their otherwise perfect ballot.

RT-C Goes Down Swinging

By the narrowest of margins, the Round Top-Carmine volleyball team missed out on a state tournament berth. In a thrill-a-minute 1A regional final Saturday in Brenham Neches and RT-C traded comebacks but the Lady Tigers made their final rally count beating the Cubettes 2519, 20-25, 25-23, 8-25, 16-14.
