During the nights of Aug. 16, 23, and 30, the Rabbs Creek Wildlife Management Association will be conducting the annual deer survey in the Winchester area. The surveys are conducted between sundown and midnight and will use spotlights to locate and count deer. The survey vehicle will use public roads and will be driving very slowly using two spotlights. Frequent stops will occur to distinguish the make-up of a herd. Survey Officials will not carry any firearms and will not enter any private property unless permission has been granted.
The annual Fayette County 4-H Banquet was held on Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Historic Casino Hall. The 4-H Banquet is the ultimate highlight and culmination of the year’s activities for each member, as we see one year close and a new year beginning.
4-H awards were awarded to the following: Fayette County 4-H Scholarship: Aidan Miksch, Austin Nedbalek, Mackenzie Poncik, Rachel Matocha, and Tamara Otto.
4-H Opportunity Scholarships: $20,000-Tamara Otto; $20,000-Mackenzie Poncik; $5,000-Aidan Miksch; $3,000-Austin Nedbalek .
