LG Chamber Mixer
The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Chamber Mixer on Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 5:307:30 p.m. at La Marina, located at 1502 State Hwy. Business 71 in La Grange. AVIR La Grange is the door prize sponsor. Chamber members get two complimentary spots. Non-chamber members and guests are $15.
Legion, Auxiliary
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. Members are encouraged to attend to hear further plans being made by the Post and Auxiliary regarding the Veterans’ Ball, dinner and dance on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Knights of Columbus Center. The Auxiliary 19th District President, Irene Szwarc plans to attend to bring the latest updates from the recent Austin State Department Convention. New potential members are welcome. A light meal will be served, with regular business meetings to follow.
Mobile Food Pantry
The Central Texas Food Bank mobile food pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10-11 a.m. This event is drive-thru only.
Hermann Sons
The Ellinger Hermann Sons will meet on Monday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
There’s more German immigrant artists and the shaping of early Texas art. JT Koenig, resident of both Austin and La Grange, will host an engaging presentation exploring the contributions of German immigrants and their descendants to early Texas art of the 19th Century and early 20th Century, including early artists from Fayette County. Sponsored by the Fayette Heritage Museum & Archives, the program will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. In the meeting room of the Fayette Public Library, 855 S Jefferson, La Grange. Please use the after-hours entrance toward the rear of the building on Franklin Street.
La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day
The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Game Day will be held the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Any questions, call Liz Tannler at (281) 543-1976.
Paint & Pivo at the Czech Center
Join TCHCC for an evening of creativity, fun, and Czech hospitality at Paint & Pivo on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 7-9 p.m. at the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center, 250 West Fair Grounds Road, La Grange. Local artist Bonny Karstedt will lead participants step-by-step as they create their own masterpiece in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet
On Tuesday, Aug. 18, Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will gather together at 5 p.m. for a social/meal with meetings to follow. This will take place at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl St. Meeting room numbers to be determined. Note the change in gathering time and place.
Hay Show Entry Deadline Aug. 15
The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 59th annual Hay Show on Wednesday, Sept. 2 and Thursday, Sept. 3, in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair in La Grange. Judging will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. The hay show sale will begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion. Hay produced in Fayette County in the spring and summer of 2026 can be entered in the following classes: Class 1-Coastal; Class 2-Other Bermuda grasses; Class 3-Other perennial grasses; Class 4-Mixed grasses; Class 5-Sorghums; Class 6-Winter annuals (oats and ryegrass); Class 7-Legumes and Legume grass mixture.An entry fee of $10 will pay for the cost of the testing. Hay entries can be dropped off at the following locations: M-G Farm Service Center, Weimar; Farmers Co-op, Schulenburg; La Grange Farm & Ranch; Mica Soil Service, Flatonia. Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
La Grange Show Fund Meeting
A meeting for the La Grange Show Fund will be held Monday, Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office located at 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange.
Woven Bible Study
Woven Ministry’s fall Bible study begins Sept. 1 and Sept. 2, with four groups available for women, including one for high school girls. Tuesday evening groups meet from 6:30-8:15 p.m. at Crosspoint Community Church. Wednesday groups meet at NewLife Methodist Church from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This fall’s study will be the book of Ephesians. NewLife Methodist Mother’s Day Out NewLife Methodist Church in La Grange will host New Mother’s Day Out on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m., beginning Sept. 8. Class for 2-year-olds (by Sept. 1) and a class for 3-year-olds (by Sept. 1) will be available. Monthly tuition is $240 with a $50 registration fee.
