The backyard of the La Grange home where W.O. “Red” Miller and his wife Marilyn lived for over 60 years was where champions were made.

Students from On Pointe Studio and Events in Schulenburg traveled to Dallas/ Fort Worth the week of June 16-22 to perform their 25 dances at the National Competition Dance Showcase USA. On Pointe competed with 47 studios from Texas and Oklahoma.

The Texas Tornadoes of Lee County Equestrian Drill Teams competed at the State Finals in Athens on June 2728. There are several riders from Fayette County that ride and compete on the team.

Some sources say the odds of hitting a hole-in-one on a Par 4 hole in golf are 6 million to one. Other sources say it’s more like 1 million to one.

On Friday, June 20 at the Schulenburg Sports Complex, Twin Cities’ Junior division All Stars captured the Little League Texas East District 13 Championship going undefeated winning against Washington County with a score of 10 to 3. The Twin Cities team is comprised of boys from Schulenburg, Flatonia, and Weimar. In the tournament Twin Cities defeated teams from Rice (13 to 1), Bellville (23 to 3), and Washington County (8 to 3). Twin Cities’ advances to sectionals. Flatonia ISD has promoted Assistant Coach Drew Bridges to be the new Athletic Director. He had been offensive coordinator. Coach Matt Uzzell, who was the special teams coordinator, has been promoted to Head Football Coach. The two coaches filled the spots opened up when Coach Brent Mascheck, 53, retired from public school coaching last month and accepted a job at Assistant AD and defensive coordinator for Victoria St. Joseph High School, a private school. The Bulldogs went 1-9 last season.

The La Grange High School Cheer team recently completed at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Cheer Camp at University of Texas. There were 21 studentathletes from LHS who attended.
