Local Volleyball Teams Keep Rolling

La Grange The La Grange volleyball team went to Navasota Friday and bashed the Lady Rattlers 25-5, 25-12, 25-11. The victory improved the Lady Leps overall record to 24-14 and 5-1 in district.

No Winner; Prize Jumps to $300

Out of the 90 entries in last week’s reader football pick it contest, nobody got all 10 games right. UT’s upset of Oklahoma and Bellville’s upset win over Sealy knocked out most of the ballots. That means the prize money rolls over and the pot for this week is $300. Remember you can enter as many ballots as you like, but no photo copies. Good luck!

Flatonia Beats Danbury 32-12

The Flatonia football team improved to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in district with a 32-12 victory over Danbury on homecoming night for the Bulldogs. One year after going 1-9, Flatonia has had a resurgent season. Though they finish with a tough stretch of games, for the time being the Bulldogs sit all alone in second place in the District 15-2A standings.

Leps Suffer Costly Loss to Madisonville

La Grange forced five turnovers to keep themselves in the game, but couldn’t stop the Madisonville running attack as the Mustangs beat the Leps 52-35 in the district opener for both teams. This loss proved costly in more ways than one for La Grange as standout senior lineman and captain Oliver Gunn suffered a season-ending knee injury in the game.
