Lady Leps Stellar Season Comes to an End

For a team that started with so much uncertainty, the La Grange volleyball team certainly accomplished a lot this season. The Lady Leps season came to an end Monday in Thrall with a three-set 25-16, 25-13, 25-11 loss to a Salado team loaded with at least four future D-I college athletes.

La Grange Band Members are Our County Athletes of the Week

Anyone who thinks band members are not athletes have obviously not seen the La Grange High School Band. From marching practice in the heat of the summer back in August to the stressful spotlight of the Alamodome this week at the state marching competition, the members of the Mighty Leopard Band are the epitome of athletic excellence.

Flatonia Beats Thorndale for Area Title

The Flatonia volleyball team won their second round playoff match Monday in Giddings by knocking off Thorndale 25-13, 25-15, 25-19. The Lady Bulldogs (2421) now advance to the third round where they will face Refugio (20-19) Thursday at 6 p.m.

Lady Horns Sweep Past Snook

The Schulenburg volleyball team defeated Snook Monday in Fayetteville 25-12, 25-11, 25-8 in a 2A volleyball area round playoff match. The Lady Horns improved to 33-14 overall with the victory.

Schulenburg Sweeps Past Yorktown

The Schulenburg volleybball team swept Yorktown 2522, 25-14, 25-11 in their 2A playoff opener Thursday in Seguin. The Lady Horns (32-14 overall) now advance to play Snook 7 p.m.

Lady Leps Sweep Katy Freeman in 4A Bidistrict Match The La Grange volleyball team dominated Katy Freeman in their 4A playoff opener Thursday in College Station, winning 25-23, 2515, 25-11. The Lady Leps (27-16 overall), now advance to the area round where they will play Salado (32-13) on Monday, Nov, 3 at 6:30 p.m.

Round Top-Carmine Begins Volleyball Playoffs Tuesday in Huntsville

Round Top-Carmine (which was a state semifinalist a year ago) had a first round playoff bye because of their volleyball district title. They now advance to face Goodrich Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Huntsville High School. The winner of that match plays the Chester/ Dime Box winner in the third round.

Fayetteville Bashes Buckholts in 1A

The Fayetteville volleyball team bashed Buckholts in their 1A volleyball playoff opener 25-10, 25-4, 25-8 Thursday. The Lady Lions improved to 27-13 with the victory and now advance to play Hull-Daisetta in the area round. In Thursday’s victory, Lainey Gromaski had 14 kills to lead the Lady Lions. Cambree Denham had eight kills and Maycee Miller had five. Devynn Moeckel had four kills and Aubree Graeter had three. Scotti Beseda and Emily Keilers each had eight aces. Cambree Denham had five aces and Graeter had three.
