The Flatonia girls basketball team came to La Grange Friday and got a statementmaking win over a much bigger school, beating the Lady Leps 47-40. “I’m excited about the win, but the play in general was not what we wanted,” said firstyear Flatonia coach Bethany McLeod.

Schulenburg and Union Pacific Railroad are bringing a Plein Air Contest to town Have You Painted Yet? Schulenburg will host 12 artists to paint four days in the area starting Nov. 29.

Schulenburg’s magical volleyball season ended Wednesday night in a four-set state semifinal loss to Iola.

The Lady Horns (37-13) pushed Iola (which has an amazing 50-1 record this season) more than most teams had this season, but the Lady Bulldogs won 25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 25-22.

But in the loss Schulenburg’s Kieryn Adams set a new state tournament record (all conferences) with 41 individual digs in a single game.

The previous record was 39 digs by Morgan Wilson (Bushland) in 2010.

The La Grange High School Swim Team participated in the Roy and Jean Potts Invitational Swim Meet on November 4th 2023. There were 18 -6A, 5A and 4A and under schools participating. The LHS swimmers placed 9th overall with a combined score of 140. The following are results: Girls 200 Medley relay with Laney Herdler, Kynzee Swafforrd, Elena Supak, and Charlotte Griffin placed 13th with a time of 2:35.46.

Boys 200 Medley relay with Gavin Cook, Dalton Landis, Ben Swisher and John Kasper placed second with a time of 2:07.19.

Schulenburg volleyball is at their second state tournament in a row and it’s taken more than just one player to accomplish this feat. The Lady Horns’ senior leadership has helped punch them a ticket to Garland once again and it’s only right for all the seniors to be recognized. These seniors are Kieryn Adams, Keaton Walker, Brooke Redding, Jessalyn Gipson, and Meredith Magliolo.

The La Grange boys basketball team snagged their first win of the season Tuesday at Round Top-Carmine, winning 77-17. Jahse Scott led the Leps in scoring with 14.
