Wick a Junior College All-Star

Former La Grange baseball standout Wyatt Wick, who is currently a sophomore pitcher at Galveston College, was selected to play in theTexas/New Mexico National Junior College Athletic All-Star Game last weekend at Dallas Baptist University. Wick pitched one hitless inning in the all-star game and played for the South Team, which beat the North Team 6-3.

The La Grange and Giddings athletic rivalry is always great. That rivalry has grown even more intense on the volleyball court the last few seasons with both teams tying for district titles the last two years.

Wilkerson’s Big Night in Splendora Earns Him Fayette Co. Athlete of Week Honors

La Grange senior football player Jakobe Wilkerson has clocked a ton of playing time for the Leopards and is putting his talents on full display. In a 38-7 victory against Splendora last Friday, Wilkerson notched a career high of three total touchdowns. Two of them were on the ground and one was a receiving score. It’s clear that Wilkerson has been an essential part for Leopards football.

For 40 Years Now, Koethers Have Been Part of Chain Gang at Leps Football Games

Remarkably, members of the Koether family have been running the chains and down marker at La Grange football games for 40 years. The late Charles Koether first started on the “chain gang” back in 1982 and his brother Don joined him at some point decades ago when some of the other regulars would go duck hunting. Now Don has been a regular on the chains since 1996 – that’s a span of about 130 home varsity games.

LG 7th Grade Gold 12 Cuero 6 Jordan Dugan led the offense with several long carries while scoring two touchdowns. Defensively, the Leopards were led by Darius Johnson,Alex Hernandez, and Edric Gants who each had several tackles. Darius Johnson fell on a fumble in the last minute of the game to help seal the victory for the Leopards.
