Fayette Community Foundation Impact Grant Cycle Opens Sept. 1

Since 2015, the Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) has awarded $43,500 to nonprofit programs enhancing local arts, culture, social welfare, health, conservation, and education. FCF’s 2023 Community Impact Grant cycle opens Sept. 1 and closes Sept. 30, accessible through its new online portal. Beginning this year, funding priorities for the Community Impact Grant will focus on mental health and workforce development and education. Eligible nonprofits are able to apply for funding through FCF’s two signature programs: The Red Door Fund for Mental Health and The Green Door Fund for Workforce Development and Education.

Bluebonnet Offices Closed Labor Day

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of Labor Day. Bluebonnet members can access their account information and make payments while the offices are closed through the co-op’s website at bluebonnet.coop, MyBluebonnet mobile app or calling (800) 842-7708.

City Checking for Hotel Tax Compliance

F The City is in the process of evaluating compliance with state and local Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) regulations. All properties operating as a lodging enterprise within the City of Fayetteville and Extra Territorial Jurisdiction that are not in compliance will be contacted in the coming weeks to register with the City and reconcile their accounts.

Oviedo Holds 4th Annual Teacher Gift Card Giveaway

Oviedo Auto Group held its fourth annual Teacher Gift Card Giveaway. Local teachers were eligible to enter a drawing at the dealership. Dealership owner Johnny Oviedo presented gift cards totaling $3,000 to 20 local teachers who won. The Fayette County Area Go Texan Committee will be awarding scholarships to deserving seniors from the following high schools. Fayetteville: Logan Fritsch and Makenzie Poncik.

Boehnke Celebrates 94th Birthday

Muldoon native Lillie Mae Boehnke recently celebrated her 94th birthday. Nephew, Devon Boehnke, along with great niece and nephews, Dana and Darrell Kulak; and Tony Miori carried Lillie Mae out for a celebratory birthday dinner at the Oakridge Smokehouse in Schulenburg. They all enjoyed a wonderful dinner and a beautiful birthday cake made by Dana. If you see Miss Lillie Mae out and about, be sure and wish her a blessed and healthy year.
